Research and engineering industry spearheads in the Tampere region

Even though multidiscipline approach and ability to combine different technologies might be the biggest strength in Tampere Region, the following real world class research and application areas can be acknowledged in Tampere:

- Overall expertise in mobile work machines. Especially the ability to combine the state-of-the-art knowledge of mechanical technologies, ICT, automation as well as the comprehensive understanding of customer needs to build user friendly machinery, systems and advanced customer services.

- Water hydraulics and remote / tele operation. The flag ship is ROViR Centre, which is concentrating in virtual technologies and remote operation. ROViR Centre belongs to European Fusion Programme and developes extremely demanding remote operated service systems for ITER fusion reaktor.

- Optoelectronics Research Centre and Competence Centre in Laser Technologies as well as their spinoffs in optoelectronics and laser industry
